Option 1:
-
Find or create a placeholder image (e.g., a silhouette in JPG/PNG).
-
In Gramps, go to Media → Add and import this placeholder once.
-
Give it a descriptive name like “Default Photo”.
-
Now, for each person without a photo:
-
Open their Person Editor (double-click the person).
-
Go to the Gallery tab.
-
Click Add → Existing Object, then select your “Default Photo.”
-
Save.
-
This method allows for anyone without a photo points to the same placeholder media file (saving disk space).
Option 2: Use a Gramplet or Addon (for automatic placeholders)
- The “Dynamic Web Report” addon has an option to use a default image when someone doesn’t have one.
- You can set the default image path in the report settings.
- When generating charts/reports, it will auto-fill the placeholder where no photo exists.
