Ground Turkey Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic (or 1 teaspoon)
  • 1 lb. Ground Turkey
  • 15oz. Can of Kidney Beans
  • 7.5oz Can of Corn
  • 15oz. Can of Diced Tomatoes
  • 6oz. Can of Tomato Paste
  • 1 Cup of Water

Chili Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Freshly Cracked Black Pepper

Prep

Bowl 1: 

  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic (or 1 teaspoon)

Bowl 2:

  • 1lb of ground turkey

Bowl 3:

  • 15oz. drained can of kidney beans (does not need to be cooked if using canned)
  • 7.5oz drained can of corn (does not need to be cooked if using canned)

Bowl 4:

  • 1 cup of water

Bowl 5 (Chili seasoning):

  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Not in a bowl but open up and put aside:

  • 15oz. open can of diced tomatoes
  • 6oz. open can of tomato paste

Instructions

  1. Add the olive oil, contents of bowl one, and contents of bowl two to a pot over medium heat. Continue to do so until the turkey is browned, and the onion, and garlic are soft and transparent.
  2. Add the water, contents of bowl three, and contents of bowl four, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Stir a bit.
  3. Add the contents of bowl five and stir until well combined.
  4. Set the burner to a low flame and let the chili simmer for at least 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
